"Bowing Lamp" is an interactive piece that responds to your movements. When you bow to the lamp, it tilts forward as if bowing back to you and turns on its light. It’s a playful way to show how even simple objects can feel alive and connected to us. Inspired by Kenya Hara (原 研哉) and Kenji Kawakami (川上 賢司), this bowing lamp is designed for the first "Absurd Hotel" to be opened in Japan.
"Bowing Lamp" incorporates the traditional Japanese gesture of bowing, a symbol of respect and courtesy, into its design. As a site-specific installation for the "Absurd Hotel", it connects cultural values with interactive design, inviting guests to experience a playful yet meaningful exchange rooted in Japanese hospitality and etiquette.
